Frequently asked questions

Short answers about what cexscan shows, where the data comes from and what the metrics mean.

What is cexscan?

cexscan is a crypto market analytics site that collects real-time trading data from centralized exchanges and turns it into dashboards, rankings and monitors: top gainers and losers, trading volume, turnover, large-trade activity and coin comparisons.

More about cexscan

Which exchanges does cexscan cover?

Binance (spot, futures and Binance Alpha), OKX, Bybit, Coinbase, Gate.io, KuCoin and MEXC. Market cap, rank and all-time high/low data come from CoinMarketCap.

All exchange dashboards

Where does the data come from?

Prices, volumes and trades come from each exchange's public market data, collected by cexscan's own watchers. Market capitalisation, rank, supply and all-time high/low figures come from CoinMarketCap.

How often is the data updated?

Trade monitors refresh every 15 seconds and the price and volume races every 5 seconds while the page is open. Spot tables and volume summaries are built from daily candle data, and each page shows the date its data belongs to.

Is cexscan free?

Yes. All dashboards, tables and monitors are free to use; a free account keeps your watchlist and portfolio.

What does "turnover" mean on cexscan?

Turnover is a coin's trading volume over a period divided by its market capitalisation. A 24h turnover of 0.10 means 10% of the market cap traded in the last 24 hours.

What is "volume turnover"?

Volume turnover compares a period's trading volume with the coin's average daily volume. A value above 1 means the coin is trading more than it usually does.

What do "to ATH" and "from ATL" mean?

"To ATH" is the all-time high divided by the current price: how many times the price would have to multiply to get back to its record. "From ATL" is the current price divided by the all-time low: how many times it has risen from its lowest price.

What are the volume summary columns?

They are average daily trading volumes: yesterday, and the average per day over the last 7, 14, 30, 50, 100 and 200 days, in USD and in coin terms.

What is the whale radar?

The whale radar plots each pair by its average volume per trade and its taker buy ratio. Large trades with a high taker buy ratio show as whale buying, large trades with a low ratio as whale selling; small trades show as retail buying or selling.

What is the cexscan coin score?

The coin score (beta) is an overall rating cexscan computes for each coin from momentum, volume, sentiment and risk sub-scores, all derived from market data.

They are generated automatically by AI from technical indicators for major pairs, and each one shows when it was generated. They are not written or reviewed by an analyst.

Is anything on cexscan investment advice?

No. cexscan shows market data and automated analysis for information only. Nothing on the site is financial or investment advice.

How do I compare two or more coins?

Open Coin Compare and list the symbols, for example BTC and ETH on Binance. It shows price, market cap, distance from ATH/ATL, price changes and trading activity side by side.
